It's Just Fuckin Yoga

Well here it goes. My first blog post and it’s my favorite topic.

I’m a paradox. I take my yoga practice seriously but I don’t take it seriously. I tell myself daily “It’s Just Fuckin Yoga.”

I don’t mean any disrespect to yoga culture when I say IT’S JUST FUCKIN YOGA. It can be offensive to people, I get it….and I’m not everyones cup of tea. I get it. It’s my truth, it’s my mantra, and I’m fuckin sticking to it. Don’t follow or read if you don’t like it. Simple as that.

OK, with that out of the way. Yoga is deep as fuck for me. I have heard many different definitions of yoga. Yoga means harnessing the mind to me. Yoga means connecting my breath to the body to the Universe. Yoga means treating myself nicely. Yoga means service. Yoga means the discomfort is temporary. Yoga means non judgement. Yoga is my medicine. Yoga is a journey. Yoga takes patience. Yoga is everything to me. What’s yoga mean to you? Comment please I’m always open to learning something new.

But I found the hard way…

Yoga isn’t competitiveness. Yoga isn’t about attention. Yoga isn’t about Instagram likes. Yoga isn’t about getting my body ripped AF.

When I tell myself It’s Just Fuckin Yoga:

  • When I judge myself for not being able to do an asana.

  • When I stress about class numbers when I teach.

  • When I compare my practice to others.

  • When I start looking at Instagram post likes.

  • When a “Yogi” judges me.

It’s just fuckin yoga on the inhale and it’s just fuckin yoga on the exhale. I want to have fun in my practice. I don’t want to be judgmental and competitive AF. I take my practice seriously but I don’t and I remind myself daily to HAVE FUN, LIFE IS TOO SHORT.
